Somes Sound 12 1/2


I have just completed sea trials on the Somes Sound 12 1/2 gaff rigged sailboat I completed this past summer.  The  Somes Sound is based on the Herreshoff 12 1/2 also known as the Buzzards Bay Boys Boat.  She is a lapstrake hull with a shoal keel.  The keel is ballasted with 600 lbs of lead and has a centerboard.  John Brooks drew the plans for the Somes Sound and I purchased my set in November of 2010 and started construction in 2011.  I set up a blog at nordicboats.blogspot.com where you can view the entire build.  I have enclosed a few pictures for your viewing.
